Description

If you own an ONKYO bookshelf component Hi-Fi stereo system, with a C-707CH(X) CD changer, chances are that you have already experienced CD changer problems: Most commonly the CD drawer would not open when you pushed the Eject button. Even with belt replacements, it may also skipping, jittery, or do not read disk at all. I know, because I have had my system since 2000. It still looks stylish even today, and I love the rich sound that comes out from a relatively compact stereo system, but I had to deal with the CD player problems in 2005. I learned how to take the player apart to replace driving belts and laser heads, adjust it electrically and mechanically, and put it back together. It is tricky since the disc shuffle mechanism is very complex. Over the years, I have bought several of these players, fixed them for fun and sold to the people who need them. Now I want to help more owners of this wonderful little stereo to have a working CD changer again.
This item is for REPAIR SERVICE of one (1) ONKYO C-707CHX or C-707CH CD Changer. Yes, I will repair your player, and send the same player, working, back to you. The price is based on assumptions that your unit has 2 bad rubber belts and may need some adjustments electronically and/or mechanically, otherwise it is in good shape. Price includes labor and cost of 2 new belts, plus actual cost for return shipping. I offer several shipping options, so please choose the one best fit your situation. Please understand that in some cases, if I found your unit requires additional parts, it may cost more. I don't normally charge more labor, only the parts, and I will ask you for your consent before proceeding. Expected results are: after the repairing service, your player will be able to load, eject and shuffle disks smoothly, no skipping or jittery during playback for a normal condition, undamaged CDs.
You are responsible for forward shipping, I will send my address to you after receiving your order. Please pack the item well padded or double boxed (or even batter doing both). The last thing you want is to further damage your valuable player in a rough shipping. Turn-around time is between 2 to 3 weeks. Not that I take so long to work on them, but I always want to have adequate time for thorough testing.
A tip for those who want to replace driving belts yourselves: Make sure you buy belts with correct sizes. Look at one of the pictures in this listing, those are the original sizes manufacturer used. People often think that tighter belt works more efficiently, and I have received several units for repairing which came with belts they bought one or even two size smaller. The reason to use belts is to allow limited slippage, so when something goes wrong, no parts in the drive chain get damaged. Tighter belts work against this by having too much frictions. It is also putting too much stress on the pulley shafts and motor bearings, wearing them out faster. If a new belt in the right size can't drive the machine, something else needs to be addressed.
Please feel free to ask any question regarding how the player is serviced. Thanks for looking!
