This fiery eating quest started with Samyang’s Fire Hot Spicy Korean Instant Ramyun, and the Buldak line of products got bigger and better!
PRESENTING:
The Buldak Toppoki (also known romanized as Tteokpokki)
If you watch the K-Dramas, or follow Kpop Idols, ever been to Korea, or is familiar with Korean Food~
Then you already know that delicious sweet and spicy hot and hearty, and the nation’s most favored street food snack!
That’s right! It’s Topokki !!
Most often seen in slow boiling cauldrons or wide pans with all the goodies slow warming up throughout the day~
These chewy and filling spicy rice cakes can also be enjoyed at home, PLUS! In true Buldak tradition... Its not just insanely hot... its insanely delicious!
Buldak is a romanized way of saying Fire Chicken in Korean.
There are 2 flavors:
- Original Topokki
- Carbo Toppoki (Creamy Carbonara)
And as the name says, the base of the seasoned sauce is made of chicken broth. Fiery and Delicious? Now~ THAT’s Hot!

Dee’s Tip:
Got melty cheese at home? Cheese toppoki is the current trend in Korea.
String cheese, shredded mozzarella or provolone... it is also popular to add cheese to the original buldak (chicken stew), now with the craze to add cheese to toppoki, you know its a must try for all trendy foodies out there (^_~)
Also works with yellow cheese, but instead of the cheddar’s, the stretchy cheese give an enhanced texture instead of the goeey cheeses. But if do use a creamy cheese, it does help bring the spiciness down a notch :)
